Glenn Maxwell had a disappointing start to IPL 2025 as he registered a golden duck in Punjab Kings’ opening match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this, he set an unwanted record for the most ducks in IPL history.
Maxwell’s Record-Breaking Duck
Walking in to bat at No. 5, Glenn Maxwell tried to play a reverse sweep on the very first ball from Rashid Khan. However, he missed the shot and was adjudged LBW. He did not review the decision and had to walk back without scoring.
This was Maxwell’s 19th duck in the IPL, taking him past Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik, who have 18 ducks each. Across his T20 career, he has now recorded 35 ducks, making him the fourth-most duck-prone batter in T20 history.
