Gujarat Giants Captain Ashleigh Gardner Smashes 25-Ball Fifty Against RCB in WPL 2025
Ashleigh Gardner smashed a 25-ball fifty against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women.
Gujarat Giants captain Ashleigh Gardner played a blistering knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. She smashed a quickfire half-century in just 25 balls, leading her team to a strong position in the match at the Kamboti Stadium, Vadodara.
Gardner reached her fifty on the fifth ball of the 16th over. Facing Joshitha VJ, she drove a fuller-length delivery wide outside off to deep cover for a single. With this, she completed her half-century, providing Gujarat Giants a solid platform for a big total. The skipper’s innings included three fours and four massive sixes, maintaining a strike rate of 200.
Gujarat Giants are in a commanding position at 148/3 in 16 overs, with Gardner leading the charge. She has found a strong partner in Deandra Dottin, who is also batting aggressively with 23 runs off 10 balls. Earlier, Beth Mooney played a crucial knock of 56 runs off 42 balls, helping the team recover after early setbacks.
RCB’s bowlers have struggled to contain the Gujarat batters. Kanika Ahuja (1/19 in 3 overs) and Renuka Thakur Singh (1/21 in 3 overs) have been the most economical so far. However, Georgia Wareham (0/30 in 2 overs) and Prema Rawat (1/26 in 2 overs) have been expensive, allowing Gujarat Giants to accelerate in the middle overs.
With four overs remaining, Gujarat Giants will look to capitalize on their strong position and post a massive total. Gardner and Dottin’s aggressive batting could make things even more difficult for RCB’s bowlers. A thrilling finish is on the cards as Gujarat Giants aim to cross the 180-run mark.
