Harbhajan Singh Shows Interest in Indian Cricket Team Head Coach Position

Harbhajan Singh showed interest in coaching team India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently opened applications for the head coach position, as the tenure of Rahul Dravid is coming to an end after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Furthermore, there have been reports that Rahul Dravid is not interested in reapplying for the position. Therefore, the BCCI is actively seeking a suitable candidate.

According to a report from the Times of India, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed interest in the role and has applied for the position.

“I do not know if I would apply. Coaching India is about man management, not about teaching players how to drive and pull. They know it very well. You can give some guidance to them. Cricket has given me so much and if I get a chance to give back, I would be more than happy,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by Times Of India (TOI).

Gautam Gambhir In Contention

Earlier reports suggested that the BCCI had approached Gautam Gambhir for the role. Gautam Gambhir is currently the mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024, and the team has finished at the top of the points table.

However, Gautam Gambhir is yet to respond to the BCCI regarding the head coach position.

Additionally, there were reports that Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming was approached by the BCCI for the role, alongside Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer. Both Ponting and Langer have denied the reports, stating that while it’s a significant opportunity, they are unable to take on that much pressure at this time.
