Hardik Pandya Demanded Captaincy for Mumbai Indians Return – Report
Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the captain of Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024.
Hardik Pandya was appointed as the new captain of Mumbai Indians, succeeding Rohit Sharma, on Thursday, December 15.
Mumbai Indians traded Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans for a sum of INR 15 Cr ahead of the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on December 19.
Hardik Pandya, who guided Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in the 2022 season and led them to the final in the 2023 season, is set to captain Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.
According to a report in the Indian Express, Hardik Pandya had placed a condition for his return to Mumbai Indians – he will only consider rejoining if offered the captaincy.
The transfer of Hardik Pandya back to Mumbai Indians was a highlight of the player trading window before the IPL 2024 auction.
To make space for him, the five-time champions executed a trade, trading the Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
