Hardik Pandya To Be Banned from IPL 2024 for Rule Violation

Hardik Pandya will be handed one-match if he receives one more slow over-rate penalty.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was penalized Rs 24 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during Mumbai’s IPL 2024 match against LSG at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, on April 30.

The remaining players, including the impact player, received fines of Rs 6 lakh each or 25% of their match fee. Meanwhile, MI’s losing streak continued as they suffered their third straight defeat of the season, with LSG winning by 4 wickets.

The Mumbai franchise faced severe penalties this time for their second slow over-rate offense of the season. MI’s captain, Hardik, received a doubled fine this time.

Earlier, during MI’s match against PBKS, Hardik was fined Rs 12 lakh for a similar offense. Following the LSG match, Hardik was penalized for violating the IPL code of conduct regarding minimum over-rate.

As per the current rules, if Hardik Pandya receives one more slow over-rate penalty in the upcoming game, he will be banned from one match in the Indian Premier League 2024 season.

Mumbai Indians chances of securing playoff spots in IPL 2024 are slim, as they currently sit at the ninth spot in the table with six points. They are four points behind fourth-placed CSK, who have played one match less.

Also, Mumbai Indians face a tough road ahead with their last four matches against teams fighting for the top-4 spots: Kolkata Knight Riders (twice), Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants.
