Harry Brook takes the captain's role after Jos Buttler stepped down last month.

Harry Brook has been appas the new white-ball captain of England. The 26-year-old cricketer will now lead the team in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals. He takes the captain’s role after Jos Buttler stepped down last month.

Harry Brook is a famous middle-order batter. He made his debut for England in January 2022. His first international match was against the West Indies in Bridgetown. Since then, he has played 26 ODIs and 44 T20I matches for England.

Brook has scored 816 runs in ODIs. His highest score in this format is 110. In T20Is, his top score is 81. He was also part of the England team that won the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Brook also has captaincy experience. He led the England team at the Under-19 World Cup in 2018. Last year, he captained England in an ODI series against Australia. At that time, Jos Buttler was not available. Many praised Brook’s calm nature and smart leadership during those matches.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said that Brook has been a strong part of England’s white-ball team since 2022. He has also worked as vice-captain for the team in both ODI and T20 formats in the last year. He is also the number two ranked batter in the world for Test cricket.

Brook is very happy with his new role. He said, “It’s a big honour for me. I always dreamed of playing for Yorkshire and then for England. Becoming the captain is like a dream come true.” He also thanked his family and coaches for always supporting him.

He said he is ready to work hard and wants to win series and World Cups for England.

Brook added, “There is a lot of talent in our country. I’m excited to lead this team and give my best.”

Rob Key, who is the Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, said, “Harry Brook is a great cricketer with a smart cricket brain. He has big plans for both teams. We believe he can help us win more trophies in the future.”

Brook will begin his captaincy journey during England’s home series against the West Indies in May. This series will include 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
