KL Rahul did not have any words on how his side managed to lose against Kolkata Knight Riders even after restricting them on a small score of 164. KL Rahul- led Kings XI Punjab was in the game up to the 17th over of the second inning but just after Sunil Narine‘s over, KXIP collapsed like a deck of cards.

”I have no answers. We just need to keep coming harder in the next seven games. We bowled really really well. This was a fresh strip so we didn’t know what we’re good lines and lengths. And the bowlers adjusted really well. And they were brave at the death too. Don’t think we were satisfied at any stage in the chase. You are satisfied only when you win the game. Towards the end, we kept losing wickets, and couldn’t get us over the line.”

Chasing 165 to win, Kings XI Punjab were doing fabulous as their opener KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal were doing their work easily. They had stitched a 115-run-opening stand in 14.2 overs. While KL Rahul smashed 74 off just 58 deliveries, Mayank Agarwal smashed 56 runs off 39 balls.

Despite the dismissal of Mayank Agarwal, KXIP looked confident enough to register an easy win as Rahul and Nicholas Pooran took Nagerkoti for 19 runs in the 17th over to reduce the pressure to 22 runs off the last 18 deliveries.

But after time out, Kings XI Punjab loses their momentum as Sunil Narine dismissed Pooran, who was in the form already. Soon after his dismissal, Prasidh Krishna broke the spine of Kings XI Punjab as he took the wickets of KL Rahul and Prabhsimran Singh.

Glenn Maxwell came in the 19th over to keep the hopes awake, but as the match sailed and only 7 runs were needed on last 2 balls, Sunil Narine dismissed Mandeep Singh to make sure that even if Maxwell struck a six off the last ball, KKR still wouldn’t lose. But it didn’t happen as all Maxi could manage was a boundary.
