Bangladesh Struggles Despite Towid Hridoy’s Century
After being put in to bat, Bangladesh faced early trouble as Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana dismantled their top order. Bangladesh found themselves at 35/5 in just 8.3 overs, with Shami picking up three quick wickets.
Towhid Hridoy played a fighting knock of 100 off 118 balls, forming a crucial 154-run partnership with Jaker Ali (68 off 114) to revive Bangladesh’s innings. However, Shami’s five-wicket haul (5/53) and Harshit Rana’s three wickets ensured that Bangladesh was bowled out for 228 in 49.4 overs.
Shubman Gill Anchors India’s Chase
India got off to a strong start, with Rohit Sharma smashing 41 off 36 balls before falling to Taskin Ahmed. Virat Kohli (22) and Shreyas Iyer (15) got starts but failed to convert them into big scores.
Gill, however, stood firm at one end, anchoring the chase with a composed 101* off 129 balls. His innings, laced with nine fours and two sixes, ensured India remained in control throughout. KL Rahul (41* off 47) provided the finishing touches, sealing the victory in 46.3 overs.
