India secured a thumping 6-wicket victory over Pakistan in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 group-stage clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, February 23. Virat Kohli led the chase with a magnificent unbeaten 100, helping India comfortably overhaul the 242-run target.
India’s Chase: Kohli, Iyer Dominate
India got off to a brisk start as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill attacked the Pakistani pacers early on. However, Shaheen Afridi provided the breakthrough in the fifth over, dismissing Rohit (20) with a superb yorker. Gill (46) looked set for another fifty but was bowled by Abrar Ahmed.
With two wickets down, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer took control, putting together a decisive 114-run partnership. Iyer scored a fluent 56 before departing, but Kohli remained unbeaten, completing his 51st ODI century and sealing the win for India.
India Top Group A, Pakistan on the Brink
Earlier, Pakistan posted 241 runs, with Saud Shakeel’s fighting fifty being the standout effort. However, India’s bowlers kept them in check, with Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya leading the attack.
With this victory, India now tops Group A with two wins, while Pakistan faces elimination after consecutive losses. Their qualification hopes now depend on other results.
