ICC Unhappy With Karachi Stadium Sight Screens, Asks PCB to Refund Fans

ICC has raised concerns over oversized sight screens at Karachi Stadium.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has raised concerns over the installation of oversized sight screens at the National Stadium in Karachi. The venue is set to host the opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025 between Pakistan and New Zealand.

ICC Asks PCB to Refund Affected Fans

According to reports, the ICC is unhappy with the large sight screens as they obstruct the view of fans seated behind them. The governing body has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to compensate these fans with refunds.

The PCB had been working on major renovations at the stadium, as it is also set to host matches in a tri-series featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa before the Champions Trophy. The upgrades included a new five-story building, digital screens, and LED lights. A grand inauguration ceremony is scheduled for February 11.

Project Director Bilal Chauhan confirmed that the renovation work has been completed. A fence has also been installed in front of the VVIP enclosures, where tickets are priced at PKR 20,000.

Pakistan are the defending champions of the Champions Trophy, having won the 2017 edition under Sarfaraz Ahmed by defeating India in the final at The Oval.

For the 2025 edition, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are in Group A, while Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan form Group B.
