IND vs BAN: Indian Captain Rohit Sharma And Navdeep Saini Ruled Out of 2nd Test

IND vs BAN: KL Rahul will continue to lead the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma and pace bowler Navdeep Saini have been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh beginning at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday, December 22.

Rohit Sharma missed the third ODI and first Test against Bangladesh after sustaining a blow to his thumb during the preceding ODI series. India registered a 188-runs victory in the opening Test.  

In a statement, the BCCI said:

“The medical team is of the opinion that the injury needs some more time to heal completely before the Indian captain can bat and field with full intensity. He will continue his rehab and will not be available for the second and final test against Bangladesh.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed that Navdeep Saini has been ruled out of the second test as he suffers from an abdominal muscle strain.

“Navdeep Saini is also ruled out of the second test owing to an abdominal muscle strain.”

KL Rahul, who captained India in the first test, will continue as a stand-in skipper while Shubman Gill will retain his place at the top of the order. The second test is set to be played on Thursday, December 22 in Mirpur.
