IND vs BAN: Jaydev Unadkat will replace Mohammed Shami in India's Test squad.

In the latest turn of events, the left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been added to India’s Test squad for Bangladesh series, Cricbuzz reported on Saturday, December 10.

The Saurashtra bowler has been picked in place of senior pacer Mohammed Shami who, has been ruled out of the ongoing series due to a bowling arm stress.

Saurashtra recently clinched their second Vijay Hazare Trophy title with a five-wicket win over Maharashtra in the final. The Jaydev Unadkat-led side played quality cricket throughout the tournament and lifted the coveted trophy after 15 years.

The report further added that Unadkat has been picked on current form. He was the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he picked 19 wickets in just 10 matches. He was also the highest wicket-taker of the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy with 67 wickets to his name.

Jaydev Unadkat played his only Test in 2010, against South Africa in Centurion. Since then, he has featured in seven ODIs and 10 T20Is but was never considered for the red-ball cricket.

Another Injury Blow for Team India?

Earlier Indian captain Rohit Sharma injured his thumb during the 2nd ODI in Dhaka and has traveled back to India to ascertain the gravity of his thumb injury.

The 34-year-old is expected to miss the first Test. However, there is a hope that the Mumbai batter will be available for the second Test, starting December 22.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, who led the India A side in a two-match series which concluded on Friday, may be added to the Indian Test squad as the back-up for Rohit in the first Test. KL Rahul will lead India in the first Test, which is set to be played from December 14.
