IND vs BAN: KL Rahul Picks Up Hand Injury, Doubtful For 2nd Test

KL Rahul picked up hand injury while batting in the nets.

In what comes as a huge blow for team India ahead of the second Test, stand-in captain KL Rahul took a blow to his hand while batting in the nets on the eve of the match.

While India batting coach Vikram Rathour stated that Rahul’s injury wasn’t serious, he did not confirm whether he will feature in the second match, starting Thursday, December 22.

“It doesn’t [look serious]. He seems to be fine. Hopefully, he’ll be okay. The doctors are looking at it, but hopefully, he’ll be okay.”

KL Rahul was announced as stand-in captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who missed the first Test in Chattogram due to a thumb injury. Later, the Mumbai batter was also ruled out of the Dhaka Test.

If Rahul is unavailable on Thursday, vice-captain Cheteshwar Pujara will likely take lead the side with Abhimanyu Easwaran expected to replace Rahul at the top of the order.

India lost the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh 2-1, and made an astounding comeback in the opening Test, where they thrashed the hosts by 188 runs to take a 1-0 lead.
