The incident happened on the fourth ball of the second over of Bangladesh’s innings when a good length delivery from pacer Mohammed Siraj found the outside edge of opener Anamul Haque Bijoy’s bat. The ball went low to Rohit, who was stationed at slip dropped the catch after the ball hit him on his thumb.
Rajat Patidar has replaced him as a substitute on the field while vice-captain KL Rahul has taken over the charge of the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Team India would be hoping that the injury to their captain is not serious.
