IND vs BAN: Suryakumar Yadav Likely To Replace Ravindra Jadeja in India’s Test Squad

Ravindra Jadeja is expected to miss the upcoming tour of Bangladesh.

India’s veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to miss out on the upcoming tour of Bangladesh, Cricbuzz reported on Tuesday, November 22.

The report further stated that Jadeja has not recovered from his injury completely and the team management does not want to rush his recovery process.

Notably, Jadeja was part of both the ODI and Tests squad that were scheduled to tour Bangladesh for three One Day Internationals and two-match Test series.

“Jadeja has been to NCA for his check-up and rehab on a number of occasions. However, as of now, it is unlikely that he will be fit for the Bangladesh series. In any case, Chetan Sharma-led former selection committee had kept him in the squad subject to fitness,” a BCCI source privy to developments told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

As per the same report, Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently in blistering form in the shortest format of the game could be given a maiden Test call-up, replacing Jadeja.

The Mumbai batter is currently in New Zealand and has rested for the ODI series in Bangladesh. He recently whacked a sensational ton and shattered a string of records to etch his name in history books.

Meanwhile, Cricbuzz also reported that the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee, which has been sacked by BCCI a couple of days back, is operating as usual.

Chetan Sharma & Co. are expected to announce the replacement of the Ahmedabad all-rounder later this week when India A squad is also likely to be announced.

Rohit Sharma-led team India is touring Bangladesh for two Tests and three ODIs. The two-match Test series will be a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023.
