IND vs ENG: Why Did Rohit Sharma Drop Yashasvi Jaiswal for the 2nd ODI vs England?

Yashasvi Jaiswal is not playing the second ODI against England.

India made a couple of changes for the second ODI against England in Cuttack. Virat Kohli returned to the XI, and Varun Chakravarthy was handed his ODI debut. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal was left out of the squad, raising questions about the decision.

Reason Behind Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Exclusion

Jaiswal got his ODI debut in the first match of the series since Kohli was unavailable due to a knee issue. However, he failed to make an impact, scoring just 15 runs off 22 balls. With Kohli back in the lineup, the team management had to make space, and Jaiswal was the one to miss out.

This decision appears to be based on team balance rather than a reflection of Jaiswal’s potential. He is still part of India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and this exclusion could simply be a rotation strategy ahead of the tournament.
