IND vs WI: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Dropped from Playing XI for 2nd ODI Against West Indies

Sanju Samson and Axar Patel back to the Playing XI, Hardik Pandya Lead the Team in Absence of Rohit Sharma

Hardik Pandya came out to toss for India in the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series against the West Indies at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, July 29.

It is just the second time the India all-rounder has been handed the opportunity to lead India in the 50-over format.

India decided to rest both of their senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the 2nd ODI and brought back Sanju Samson and Axar Patel to the XI.

Here’s what Hardik Pandya said during the toss:

“Rohit and Virat have been playing constant cricket, few questions need to be answered for us so they are resting in this game. They can be fresh for the third ODI. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel come in for Rohit and Virat.”

On losing the toss and putting to bat first, Pandya said

“We were looking to bat first. We want to see how much we can score on this pitch which is a bit up and down.”

“I think when you get someone out for 115, it’s a good effort from the bowlers. Our catching was impressive, but we can improve in certain areas. Instead of losing five wickets, we could have lost only two wickets and finished the last game.”
