India captain Rohit Sharma lashed out at Shardul Thakur for his lacklustre fielding efforts during the 1st ODI against West Indies at Kensington Oval on Thursday, July 27.

The incident took place in the 19th over of the West Indies innings. Shardul was fielding at mid-off when he ended up giving away an extra run to Shai during Kuldeep’s first over.

The Indian captain was visibly infuriated with Shardul Thakur’s performance on the field. A viral video captured the captain expressing his frustration and disappointment with the pacer.

Talking about the match, India won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. The Men in Blue put on a bowling masterclass to bowl out Shai Hope and Co. for 114 runs in 23 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the star performer with the ball, securing a brilliant four-wicket haul, while Jadeja also made a notable contribution, snaring three wickets.

Besides the aforementioned bowlers, Hardik Pandya, debutant Mukesh Kumar, and Shardul Thakur also stepped up, picking up a wicket each.

In reply, India chased down the required target in 22.5 overs, losing five wickets, and hence went 1-0 up in the three-match series.
