Following a devastating loss in the World Test Championship final against Australia, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma enters this match with unwavering confidence, stating that the team has put in tremendous practice in the last few days and eagerly anticipates this series.
Here’s what Rohit Sharma said during the toss:
“The preparation has been good so far. We are here for a while now. We started off with Barbados, played a practice game there. We’ve been in Dominica for the last four days. It’s been good preparation for us although rain played a bit of spoilsport for us but I thought we are very well prepared for this Test match and we are looking forward to it.”
India has been on the losing side in the last two World Test Championship finals. In the inaugural edition of the championship, they were bested by New Zealand, and in the most recent final, they faced a defeat at the hands of Australia.
“The Championship final is still couple of years from now. The 2 cycles we’ve played, we played some consistent cricket which is why we played 2 finals and this is something which we can take forward, we want to get better as a team. There are a few new guys in the team as well. Hopefully we can get good perspective from the last 2 cycles and this will be no different for us. We want to keep getting better as a team,” Rohit added.
