IND vs AUS: India Will Not Recover From Defeat in Adelaide Test – Brad Haddin

Former Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin believes that the Pink ball Test played in Adelaide was the best opportunity for Kohli led the side to win a match in the Border-Gavaskar series and the visitors will find it difficult to “script a turnaround” after an embarrassing 8-wicket defeat in the series opener.

Team India were bowled out for 36 – the lowest-ever Test score, in their second innings as the hosts marked an eight-wicket victory in the Adelaide Test to take a 1-0 lead in the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

“I don’t think they will (recover from the loss),” Haddin told SEN Radio.

“I thought their only opportunity to win a Test match was the first Test at Adelaide. I thought the conditions suited their bowling and I thought they’d get enough runs. But I don’t think they’ll be able to turn it around.

Haddin, further pointed out that without Mohammad Shami, team India will lose the depth in their bowling attack. Notably, Mohammad Shami ruled out of the remaining Test series after suffering a fracture in the Adelaide Test on Saturday.

“You’ve got one Test-up at Brisbane where no one beats Australia. These next two wickets will be suited to Indian cricket, but I don’t think they’ll be able to turn it around,” Haddin added.

“They had a great bowling attack the last time they come out here, and now with Shami out with a broken arm they don’t have enough depth to cover that,” Haddin said.

Haddin further speaking on Indian batting collapse Haddin said: “I think it’s really concerning.”

“Yes India were driving the game and we were talking at the start of day three about how Australia would get back into it, but the collapse they had has to leave some marks.”

Notably, Virat Kohli will fly back to India and will not attend the remaining Test of the 4-Match Test series. In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane is all set to lead the team.
We can also expect inclusion of KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj in India’s playing XI in the 2nd Test in the absence of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami.

The second Test will be a must-win clash for India as a loss here would mean that the hosts end up taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series.
