India Would Have Won Quicker If Bangladesh Batted First – Virender Sehwag
Bangladesh suffered 50 run defeat against India in the super 8s clash of T20 World Cup 2024.
The former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag, is known for his bold remarks. He recently made some strong comments on the Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, and now he has opened up about the Bangladesh team.
Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Super 8s stage, this time to India at Antigua. The Men in Blue beat Bangladesh by 50 runs, moving one step closer to semi-final qualification.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag stated that Bangladesh wasted a lot of time for Team India during the match, and it would have ended much quicker had Bangladesh batted first.
“They spoiled our day. It’s been too long. If they had batted first, they would have registered a similar total. India would have chased quickly, and we would have gone home earlier. It’s just Bangladesh, after all. I don’t know why they get hyped,” Sehwag said.
Virender Sehwag Attacks Shakib Al Hasan Again
Meanwhile, Sehwag once again criticized Shakib Al Hasan for not contributing to his team when they needed him the most. A few days ago, Sehwag had advised Shakib to retire from T20 internationals after a string of poor performances.
“Today was the day for Shakib Al Hasan. He was playing against a big team. He had Shanto with him at the crease, so he should have supported him. He should have looked to stay there until the 15th or 16th over. He disappointed a lot because he has so much experience and he did not take advantage of it,” Sehwag added.
With back-to-back defeats in the Super Eight, Bangladesh’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals have almost diminished. On the other hand, India will be locking horns with their biggest rivals, Australia, in their next match.
