Deepak Chahar Gave First Two Setbacks to Delhi
Delhi had a very poor start when they came to chase the target of 180. Prithvi Shaw was dismissed in the very first over of the second consecutive match. Deepak Chahar gave both the first two setbacks to Delhi. He caught Prithvi Shaw on his own ball and dismissed Ajinkya Rahane (8 runs) whose catch was taken by Sam Curran. Chennai’s Poor Start
Chennai had a very poor start however the team scored 179 runs losing 4 wickets. Opener Sam Curran returned to the pavilion without scoring a single run on the second ball of the match. Tushar Deshpande dismissed him and his catch was taken by Enrich Nortje. After this, du Plessis and Shane Watson (36 runs) made a partnership of 87 runs off 67 deliveries for the second wicket. Watson was bowled by Nortje. Nortje took his second wicket in the match, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s catch was caught by wicketkeeper Alex Carrie on the ball of Nortje.
Faf du Plessis 16th Fifty in IPL
Faf du Plessis scored the highest 58 off 47 deliveries for CSK. This was his 16th fifty in the league. Apart from him, Ambati Rayudu scored 45, Shane Watson 36 and Ravindra Jadeja scored phenomenal 33 runs off 13 deliveries. At the same time, Delhi’s fast bowler Enrich Nortje took 2 wickets for 44 runs. Apart from him Kagiso Rabada and Tushar Deshpande got 1-1 wickets.
Chennai Scored 45 Runs in The Last Three Overs
Chennai’s score was 134 runs in the 17th over. Jadeja and Rayudu were at the crease. In the 18th over of Delhi’s Tushar Pandey, they both added 13 runs. Rabada had 16 runs in the 19th over. Jadeja hit two sixes in the 20th over of Nortje. Jadeja and Rayudu made a 50-run partnership for the 5th wicket off just 21 balls, taking Chennai’s score to 179.
Jadhav Returns to CSK Playing XI
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a change in the playing eleven. Kedar Jadhav replaced Piyush Chawla. At the same time, there was no change in the Delhi team. Captain Shreyas Iyer, who was injured in the last match, returned fit on the ground.
