However, one run was scored and the match was tied. Hooda returned not out 23 off 16 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six, while Jordan scored 13 runs in 8 balls with the help of 2 fours. Both added 23 runs for the sixth wicket.
KL Rahul’s 21st Half-Century of IPL Career
Punjab’s skipper KL Rahul scored 77 runs in the match and made his 5th of the current season and 21st of IPL career. He was bowled by the MI’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah on the third ball of the 18th over of the innings. Rahul hit 7 fours and 3 sixes in his innings off 51 deliveries.
Despite Gayle, Mayank Agarwal Came to Open
To chase the 177-run target from Mumbai, Mayank Agarwal once again came to open the innings with skipper KL Rahul. Both added 33 runs for the first wicket. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Mayank on the scored of 11 runs off 10 deliveries with the help of 1 four.
Universe boss Chris Gayle took the lead with Rahul and made a 42-run partnership for the second wicket. Gayle was dismissed by Rahul Chahar on the individual score of 24 runs and Trent Boult caught his catch at the boundary line. Gayle hit 1 four and 2 sixes in his innings of 21 balls. Then Nicholas Pooran made some good shots but he could only score 24 runs and was dismissed by Bumrah. Pooran hit 2 fours, 2 sixes in 12 balls.
Mumbai Scored 62 Runs in The Last Five Overs
After the opener, Quinton de Kock’s 53 runs inning. Keiron Pollard and Nathan Coulter-Nile played a stormy inning with which Mumbai Indians challenged Kings XI to chase 177 runs in 20 overs. In the last five overs, Mumbai added 62 runs which help them to make such a score on this ground.
Mumbai Indian’s Poor Start
Punjab denied Mumbai’s batsmen to play some good shot easily and again Mumbai lacks their good initial start. Arshdeep Singh bowled Rohit Sharma on a total of 23. The Mumbai captain could score only nine runs. One run later, Mohammed Shami showed Suryakumar Yadav the path back to the pavilion without scoring a single run. Ishan Kishan also failed to impress with his skills in this match and Arshdeep Singh dismissed him for seven runs.
Quinton de Kock and Krunal Pandya Handled The Innings
Quinton de Kock standing at the other end again with Krunal Pandya. Both made a much needed 58-run partnership for the third wicket. Krunal, who scored 34 runs, was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi for a total of 96. His brother Hardik Pandya (8 runs) was dismissed by Shami. Pandya was out for a total of 116.
Quinton de Cock’s Third Consecutive Fifty
Quinton de Kock hits his third consecutive fifty after which the left-handed batsman was dismissed by Chris Jordan. He faced 43 balls in his innings, scoring 53 runs with the help of three fours and three sixes. He has become the second player after Sachin Tendulkar to do so. Earlier, Sachin achieved this feat while playing for Mumbai in 2010. Earlier, Dickock scored 78 against Kolkata and 53 against Delhi.
