IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja Relinquishes CSK Captaincy, MS Dhoni to Take Over
MS Dhoni would return as CSK captain for the remaining games of IPL 2022.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was appointed as captain of the franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, has decided to step down as the CSK captain to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has agreed to lead CSK to allow the left-arm spinner to focus on his game. The official website of the four-time champions confirmed the news on social media.
CSK are currently placed at the ninth spot in the points table with six losses in eight games and will need to win all their remaining matches to make it to the playoffs now.
“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” the statement read.
MS Dhoni will handle the captaincy duties, starting from Sunday and he will lead the team against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 1, 2022.
