IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Teams That Can Target Mayank Agarwal
Punjab Kings released Mayank Agarwal ahead of IPL 2023 auction.
The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have released former captain Mayank Agarwal ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction. The latter will be available in the mini-auction, set to take place on December 23 in Kochi.
Given his ability to take the top-quality bowling attacks to the cleaners, the Karnataka batter could very well cause a huge bidding war among other teams in the upcoming auction.
Mayank Agarwal IPL Career Stats
Mat | Runs | Best | AVG | SR | 100s | 50s |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
113 | 2327 | 106 | 22.59 | 134.28 | 1 | 12 |
On that note, let’s take a look at three IPL franchises that might target the elegant top-order batter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction:
1. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
The Bangalore-based franchise might target Mayank Agarwal, given he hails from Karnataka and has rich experience playing at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, the home stadium of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
He has scored a plethora of runs while playing at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium and given the 2023 edition of the IPL will be played in its old home and away format, he might add some value to the team.
2. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
The two-time champions have released the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Aaron Finch during the retention window. Sam Billings and Alex Hales have also opted out of the tournament due to personal reasons.
Heading into the 2023 IPL auction, KKR will certainly look to sign a reliable top-order batter. Though Mayank didn’t look in good touch in the 2023 edition of IPL, the Knight Riders might still take a gamble.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
The 2016 IPL champions recently released a plethora of players during the retention window, including the New Zealand captain and their long-serving top-order batter Kane Williamson.
Williamson’s departure from Sunrisers Hyderabad has left a big hole in SRH’s top order. They would need a solid Indian batter to fill that void and Mayank could be the right fit for the role.
