IPL 2023 Auction: England Spinner Adil Rashid Confirms He Will Put His Name in The Mini-auction
The IPL 2023 mini-auction is set to take place on December 23 in Kochi.
Adil Rashid, the star leg-spinner of England confirmed that he has put his name for the IPL 2023 mini-auction. He was one of the best-performing spinners in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022.
He picked four wickets in six innings at an economy of 6.13 and a strike rate of 36. He delivered a match-winning performance against Pakistan in the summit clash of the tournament, having picked two wickets while conceding just 22 runs in his four overs quota.
“Yes, I will be putting up my name in IPL auctions this time,” Rashid told PTI after the World Cup final on Sunday, November 13. He last represented Punjab Kings back in the 2021 edition of IPL, where he played just one match and went wicketless.
The right-arm spinner also opened up on his performance against Pakistan in the final of the showpiece event, stating how he decreased his pace and went for more flighted deliveries like the googly to fool Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.
“Babar’s googly, I don’t know if it was the turning point of the match but I was definitely getting some turn. I don’t know about Shadab Khan or Liam Livingstone.”
“I was bowling a bit slower today and got the big leggies (leg breaks) going my way. Normally I bowl a bit quicker and a bit shorter. That was my game plan for me and that’s the way I bowl,” Adil added.
Adil Rashid further conceded that every bowler has their own way. While Shadab Khan and Liam Livingstone are a bit quicker through the air, he prefers to bowl slower.
“Shadab and Liam bowl it a bit quicker and everyone has got their own way. For me, the slower I bowl the better it is.”
