IPL 2023: “Made the difficult decision” – Pat Cummins Confirms His Unavailability For Next Season

Pat Cummins will not play in next year’s Indian Premier League season, citing a packed 2023 international schedule.

The star Australian pacers Pat Cummins confirmed that he will not be available for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to his packed international schedule.

Cummins took to Twitter to provide an update:

“I’ve made the difficult decision to miss next year’s IPL. The international schedule is packed with Tests and ODI’s for the next 12 months, so will take some rest ahead of an Ashes series and World Cup,” Cummins wrote.

“Thanks so much to @KKRiders for their understanding. Such a terrific team of players and staff and I hope I can get back there ASAP 💜💜”

The two-time champions acquired the services of Pat Cummins in the 2022 mega-auction for INR 7.25 crore. However, the Australian pacer failed to live up to the expectations.

Delhi Capitals also traded Shardul Thakur to the two-time champions for the young uncapped Mumbai all-rounder Aman Khan and cash.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked all teams to submit the list of retained and released players before Tuesday (November 15). The IPL 2023 mini-auction is set to take place on December 23 in Kochi.

Kolkata Knight Riders, two-time IPL champions, finished the 2022 edition of the tournament in the seventh position in the league table with just six wins from 14 group-stage matches.
