IPL 2023: RCB’s campaign dealt a blow as the star England all-rounder ruled out of the tournament

RCB suffered a huge blow ahead of IPL 2023.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have suffered a massive blow ahead of the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as England batter Will Jacks has been ruled out of the entire tournament.

The franchise secured the services of Jacks for a substantial amount of INR 3.2 crore. However, a debilitating injury during the second ODI against Bangladesh has left the team scrambling to find a potential replacement for him.

Jacks’ cricketing journey began with a T20I debut against Pakistan last September, which was followed by his Test debut against the same opponents in December. Recently, he also marked his ODI debut against Bangladesh.

The 24-year-old has plundered 2802 runs from 109 T20s at a strike-rate of 157.94 including one century and 23 fifties. However, the recent injury setback could dent his chances of being picked for the Men’s ODI World Cup in India later this year.

RCB has reportedly turned its attention to Michael Bracewell as a potential replacement. The Kiwi all-rounder had thrown his hat in the ring for the IPL mini-auction but remained unsold, despite a base price of INR 1 crore.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is all set to kick-start their IPL 2023 campaign with a mouth-watering clash against Mumbai Indians at their fortress in Bengaluru on April 2. Faf du Plessis, who had a successful stint as skipper last year, will continue to lead the team this season.
