IPL 2023 Retention: Gujarat Titans (GT) Retain Matthew Wade Ahead of Mini-Auction

Matthew Wade has been retained by the defending champions Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction.

In a recent development, the Australian wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade has been retained by the defending champions Gujarat Titans ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction.

Gujarat Titans acquired the services of Matthew Wade for INR 2.40 Crore in the mega-auction, held earlier in February ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Wade played 10 matches in the 2022 season of the cash-rich league, where he scored 157 runs at an average of 15 and a strike rate of 113.77. He had endured a dreadful outing in the recent T20 World Cup 2022.

The 34-year-old had managed to score just 15 runs in three matches in the showpiece event. Later, he tested positive for COVID-19 and missed the remaining tournament campaign at home.

Earlier, the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders acquired the services of New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson, Afghanistan wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Shardul Thakur ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked all ten franchises to submit the list of their retained players and released players by November 15. The mini-auction for IPL 2023 is set to take place on December 23 in Kochi.
