IPL 2023 Retention: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) To Release Marcus Stoinis Ahead of Mini-Auction – Report
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) signed Marcus Stoinis ahead of the mega-auction for INR 9.2 Crore.
The Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is expected to be released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction 2023, Cricbuzz reported.
Stoinis was one of the three pre-auction picks at the draft for the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants. The Goenka-owned franchise acquired his services for INR 9.2 Crore.
The hard-hitting all-rounder however failed to live up to the expectations of the franchise, having managed to score just 156 runs in 10 innings at an average of 19.50 and a strike rate of 147.17.
Apart from Marcus Stoinis, the Super Giants are also expected to release Jason Holder [8.75 Crore], Manish Pandey [INR 4.6 Crore], Ankit Rajpoot [INR 50 Lakhs], and Andrew Tye [INR 1 Crore] ahead of IPL 2023 min-auction.
Lucknow Super Giants had an average outing in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League as they finished the season in the top four of the points table, comprising 10 teams.
The KL Rahul-led side lost the Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore and were knocked out of the tournament. They will be looking for a better season next year.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked all ten teams to submit the list of their retained and released players by November 15. The mini-auction for IPL 2023 will take place on December 23 in Kochi.
