IPL 2023: Three Players Who Can Replace Prasidh Krishna in Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of IPL 2023, here are the potential replacement in the squad.

Rajasthan Royals have been dealt a huge blow ahead of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as their key pacer Prasidh Krishna has been sidelined with a lumbar stress fracture for the entire tournament.

Rajasthan Royals owe much of their success in the 2022 season of the cash-rich league to the exceptional performance of the pacer from Bangalore, who picked 19 wickets in 17 matches with an economy rate of 8.29.

Given the unavailability of the Bangalore pacer for the upcoming IPL season, Rajasthan Royals may consider bringing in some quality pacers to fill his shoes. On that note, let’s take a look at some potential injury replacements for Prasidh Krishna:

1. Sandeep Sharma

The Chandigarh pacer was left disappointed in the 2023 IPL auction, as he failed to fetch a buyer despite having a base price of INR 50 Lakh.

The 29-year-old is a seasoned campaigner in the IPL, having played for both Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past, and is well-versed with the demands of the lucrative league.

With his ability to swing the ball consistently, Sandeep has always been a tough proposition for batters facing him with the new ball. He has picked up 114 wickets in 104 IPL games at an economy of 7.77 and would be a potential replacement for Prasidh Krishna.

2. Gerald Coetzee

The young South African speedster has been a revelation in the world of T20 cricket. He impressed in the SA20 tournament, claiming 17 wickets in just nine matches with an economy rate of 8.07.

Overall, in T20 cricket, the 22-year-old has claimed an impressive 54 wickets in 38 matches, with an economy rate of 7.83.

While he did not find a buyer in the IPL 2023 auction, his recent exploits in the SA20 league has put him on the radar of several teams, including the Rajasthan Royals, who may look to draft him as a replacement for Prasidh Krishna.

3. Ankit Rajpoot

Despite being a consistent performer in domestic cricket and having decent IPL experience, the Uttar Pradesh pacer failed to attract any bids in the IPL 2023 auction.

Lucknow Super Giants signed him for the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league, but he didn’t get an opportunity to feature in any match and remained benched throughout the season.

Having taken 11 wickets in 9 matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy this season, Rajpoot has been in impressive form. His hit-the-deck bowling style, much like Prasidh Krishna, makes him a great fit to replace the Bangalore pacer.
