IPL 2023: What will happen if CSK vs GT final gets washed out?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Sunday, the 28th of May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

While Chennai Super Kings are heading into this game on the back of a 15-run victory over Gujarat Titans, the latter had to take a long route to the finals. Hardik Pandya & Co. beat Mumbai Indians by 62-run in the second qualifier to make it to the tournament finals.

However, it is important to highlight that there were instances of rain showers at the Ahmedabad venue just before the Qualifier 2 encounter between Gujarat and Mumbai.

As the summit clash between CSK and GT is set to take place at the same venue on Sunday, let’s delve into the conditions outlined by the IPL management in case the GT vs MI game is washed out.

What will happen if CSK vs GT Final washes out?

According to weather projections from ‘AccuWeather’, there is a 56% cloud cover expected in the vicinity, with a 61% likelihood of showers in the evening.

In case the rain interferes with the game, a reserve day has been arranged for the following day, May 29th, with a starting time of 8:00 pm. Additionally, an additional 120 minutes of extended play has been allotted on the reserve day.

Moreover, if required, the number of overs will be shortened to ensure that both teams get the opportunity to bat for a minimum of five overs. The cut-off time for the summit clash, in the case of a five-over-per-side game, will be 12:26 am.

If the match has started on the original day (May 28), regardless of whether only one ball has been bowled, it will be concluded on the following day (May 29). According to the rules, the match will resume where it stopped on the previous day.
