IPL 2024: Aakash Chopra Slams Hardik Pandya for Creating Mess in Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians Camps
Hardik Pandya left Gujarat Titans to re-join Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024.
Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered their fourth defeat of the season, having only managed to win three games so far in the IPL 2024. Their most recent loss came against Delhi Capitals, a humiliating defeat as they were bowled out for just 89 runs. Delhi Capitals (DC) chased down the target in just 8.5 overs with six wickets in hand.
This season, young Shubman Gill is leading Gujarat Titans after former captain Hardik Pandya, who led the team to the IPL title in the 2022 season and to the final last year, decided to return to his former franchise, Mumbai Indians, ahead of the IPL 2024.
Once a regular in the Mumbai Indians lineup, Hardik Pandya was released by the team ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. With the addition of two new teams, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, Pandya was drafted directly by the former and appointed as captain.
However, just two years later, Mumbai Indians offered Pandya a return to the franchise. But the star all-rounder demanded captaincy, which the team eventually accepted. He then moved back to Mumbai Indians, leaving Gujarat Titans in the hands of young Shubman Gill.
Hardik’s Absence is Hurting GT: Aakash Chopra
Former Indian cricketer turned commentator, Aakash Chopra, stated that Hardik Pandya’s move to Mumbai Indians has had a negative impact as he has struggled to lead the team effectively, and Gujarat Titans are also not performing well under Shubman Gill’s leadership.
Taking to Twitter, Aakash Chopra expressed his views:
“Hardik Pandya’s presence might not have benefited Mumbai Indians yet…but his absence is definitely hurting Gujarat Titans this season!”
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have suffered four defeats out of the six matches they have played so far in the tournament, managing to win just two games. Furthermore, the fans of Mumbai Indians are not happy with Hardik Pandya and are demanding Rohit Sharma to be reinstated as the Mumbai Indians captain.
