IPL 2024: CSK Drops Rachin Ravindra, Brings Back Daryl Mitchell Against LSG

Rachin Ravindra has just managed to score just 133 in 7 matches at an average of 19

Chennai Super Kings have dropped Rachin Ravindra from their playing 11 for the match against Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, April 23.

Instead, they have recalled Daryl Mitchell for the reverse fixture against the Super Giants. Rachin has been dropped after his disappointing performances in the last few games, during which he failed to even cross 25 runs in the last five matches he played.

LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to field first, stating that he expects dew to come in and impact the game.

“We’ll bowl first. There is a bit of dew; we have trained here and noticed it, and it will have an impact. The wicket is a bit slow, and hopefully, we can put their batters under pressure.”

“We played well in all three facets, but we left the result back in Lucknow. We know how challenging Chennai is; everyone will be cheering for them. Same team for us. No need to quieten the crowd; they always encourage good cricket,” LSG skipper Rahul said at the toss.

Here’s what Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has now lost his seventh toss in the IPL, said:

“Nothing different, but the coin toss is something I need to work on. I’ve lost seven in a row, I think. There will be some dew later on, but you never know how the wicket will surprise you. You just need to go out there and express yourself; if the ball is in your area, just attack it.”

“Hoping to set the foundation upfront. One change for us – Daryl comes in for Rachin. It’s pretty good to have three home games, but for that, we will need to win some tosses. However, it doesn’t matter if you are batting first or bowling first; you need to play good cricket here to win,” the CSK skipper said.
