A disturbing incident occurred during the IPL 2024 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
A fan displayed a highly offensive banner targeting Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, using derogatory language and comparing him to a crow.
This incident comes amidst ongoing fan discontent with the Mumbai Indians management’s decision to replace Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as captain for the IPL 2024 season. Since taking over, Pandya has faced consistent booing from fans across various stadiums.
The image of the offensive banner was shared on social media, with the fans urging the Lucknow Super Giants franchise and authorities to take action against him and remove him from the stadium for his disrespectful behaviour towards Pandya.
As for the match, Lucknow Super Giants beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets in a low-scoring thriller. Mumbai Indians could manage to put only 144 runs on the board. In reply, Lucknow Super Giants chased down the target in 19.2 overs.
