IPL 2024 – Match 29, MI vs CSK: Shardul Thakur to Retain his Place? Chennai Super Kings Probable Playing 11 vs Mumbai Indians
Chennai Super Kings is likely to retain Shardul Thakur in the playing 11 for MI vs CSK match
The 29th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will feature the clash of two of the greatest teams of the league. Mumbai Indians will be hosting the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings at their home ground, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 14.
Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has been back amongst runs, albeit at a slower strike rate. But Gaikwad amongst runs is always a good sign for the side.
Shivam Dube, at his home ground, will be required to play an important role, which is to disrupt the opposition spinner from their length in the middle phase of the innings.
Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell are the most important cogs for Chennai.
At Wankhede, which has a red soil pitch with extra bounce and pace, these two will be required to be at their best to shield the rest of the Chennai lineup with their backfoot game against the ferocious fast bowling lineup of Mumbai Indians.
MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja will again have to take up the finishing duties for the Chennai side, despite being on the other side of their peak. Dhoni has shown enough glimpses of his hitting powers and strength, which will be required to counter the bowling of Mumbai.
Ravindra Jadeja To Lead Spin Attack
Ravindra Jadeja will also be the lead spinner of the team while performing the finishing duties. Sameer Rizvi is another player who would slot in the middle order to give them enough cushion to go hard from the start.
Shradul Thakur’s Big Boost
Shardul Thakur will retain his place, as will Tushar Deshpande and Mustafizur Rahman. Thakur just makes things happen in the middle overs; he plays the enforcer role and provides them with the much-needed batting depth.
Tushar Deshpande and Mustafizur Rahman will do the job of bowling with the new ball and in the death overs.
The last spot is still undecided because Chennai may face the dilemma of whether to play an extra spinner in Maheesh Theekshana or an extra seamer in Mateesha Pathirana on the red soil pitch of Mumbai.
