IPL 2024 – Match 4: Yashasvi Jaiswal to open, Sanju Samson at three; RR’s Playing 11 vs LSG
Avesh Khan will be playing against his former team today
The 4th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will feature Rajasthan Royals (RR) clashing with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Saturday, March 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in the royal city of Jaipur.
The Rajasthan side looks similar to the team that contested the last IPL, and now with the addition of Rovman Powell, they appear even stronger in their already explosive lineup. Avesh Khan will now ply his trade for the Rajasthan Royals, having been traded by the Lucknow team in exchange for the left-handed Devdutt Padikkal.
Rajasthan Royals Playing 11 vs RCB:
Rajasthan will maintain their left-hand-right-hand combination with young Yashasvi Jaiswal and the destructive Jos Buttler. Both playing in the Powerplay ensures the bowling team does not gain an advantage in the middle overs.
Sanju Samson is expected to keep wickets and then be locked in at number 3, helping Rajasthan find the right gear in the middle overs. Alongside him, Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer form a formidable middle order that could make bowlers regret their career choice.
Dhruv Jurel was a revelation last year, and his success as a finisher will have a significant impact on the game as Rajasthan approaches the final phase of their innings. With the addition of Rovman Powell, the Royals now have more depth in their batting lineup, balancing their approach of playing five proper bowlers.
Spinners Ashwin and Chahal are the magicians who provide crucial middle-order breakthroughs, making scoring against them nearly impossible. Trent Boult, one of the league’s premier new ball bowlers, along with IPL veteran Sandeep Sharma, forms a potent new ball attack, mastering swing bowling and control.
Rajasthan may face challenges in the death overs, but with Boult, Sharma, Ashwin, and Chahal in the mix, any contest going into the final overs with life in it will be rare.
Probable Playing XI of RR vs LSG:
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (C & WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag/Rovman Powell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma
