IPL 2024 – Match 7 CSK vs GT: Ruturaj Gaikwad to Drop Tushar Deshpande? Chennai Super Kings Probably Playing 11 vs Gujarat Titans

Tushar Deshpande may face challenges securing his spot in the playing 11 due to his underwhelming performance in the previous match.

Probable Playing 11 of CSK vs GT:

Chennai is probably the most conservative of all the franchises when it comes to making changes in the playing XI, and with a win behind their back in the very first game, it is certain they won’t make any changes to their side unless there are any injury woes in their camp.

Rachin Ravindra, who came in as a replacement for the injured Devon Conway, seamlessly filled the shoes of Conway, who became the mainstay of Chennai’s batting in just a couple of years. With him, the newly appointed skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, will make up for the opening of the Chennai-based franchise.

Ajinkya Rahane’s role in this setup, as it looked in the inaugural match, will be to take on the quicks in the Powerplay and in the middle overs.

The troika of Shivam Dube, Daryl Mitchell, and Sameer Rizvi practically make it impossible for the spinners to operate in the middle overs with ease. All three of them are perfectly capable of taking down any kind of spin, which makes it really difficult for the opposition captain to prepare a strategy.

Shivam Dube‘s and Daryl Mitchell’s long reach and brute force also make sure it would be difficult to contain them even if you bowl wide outside of the off stump. Even if they don’t get anywhere near the pitch of the ball, the bat swing they generate is more than enough for the ball to travel across the boundaries.

Ravindra Jadeja and Maheesh Theekshana should again enjoy bowling at Chepauk, which happens to be a tailor-made deck for their style of bowling. Jadeja would also love to score some more runs down the order to make his case stronger for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean Islands this June.

Deepak Chahar looked out of depth in the four overs he delivered last Friday, and along with him, the Mumbai-based Tushar Deshpande leaked runs as he usually does. Both of them would love to be back amongst the wickets to support the Bangladesh quick Mustafizur Rahman, who steamrolled Bengaluru at Chennai.

If Chennai gets to bowl first, Sameer Rizvi should be the Impact Substitute, and if Chennai defends, it will be Tushar Deshpande.
