IPL 2024: Sanju Samson Recommended as India’s Next T20I Captain After Rohit Sharma

Harbhajan Singh wants Sanju Samson to lead India in T20Is after Rohit Sharma.

The former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has picked Sanju Samson as the best choice for the wicketkeeper batter for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to be co-hosted by the USA and West Indies in June.

Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Jitesh Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, and Sanju Samson are currently in the race for the wicketkeeper-batter spot for the T20 World Cup 2024. However, Harbhajan Singh believes that Sanju Samson is above all.

Harbhajan Singh even went on to say that Sanju Samson is the best choice to lead Team India in T20Is after Rohit Sharma. Notably, Rajasthan Royals are currently sitting at the top of the points table with seven wins from eight games.

Here’s what Harbhajan Singh wrote on social media:

“Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock is a proof of class is permanent . Form is temporary @ybj_19 and there shouldn’t be any debate about Keepar batsman . @IamSanjuSamson should walks in to the Indian team for T20 worldcup and also groomed as a next T20 captain for india after rohit . koi shak ???”

Sanju Samson’s leadership has been one of the finest in recent years. Even this year, he has led the team well and has not disappointed with his batting, currently being the highest run-scorer among Indian wicketkeeper-batters in the ongoing cash-rich league.

Sanju Samson, Leading Run-Scorer Among Wicketkeeper Batters

Sanju Samson is currently the second-highest run-scorer for his franchise this season, accumulating a total of 314 runs from 8 games at an average of 62.80 and a strike rate of 152.42. He has also scored three half-centuries this season.

Hardik Pandya was expected to take over as the white-ball captain of Team India after Rohit Sharma. However, after seeing his performance as captain and as an all-rounder in the ongoing IPL 2024 with Mumbai Indians, the prospects of him leading Team India in the future look bleak.
