IPL 2024: Why David Warner Isn’t Playing Today’s Match Against LSG?
Delhi Capitals dropped David Warner due to his poor batting form.
David Warner, considered an IPL legend, has struggled for form in the ongoing season, managing only 167 runs in seven outings before being dropped for the young gun Jake Fraser-McGurk in the must-win match against Lucknow Super Giants.
The swashbuckling opener was given another chance in the previous match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru but failed to deliver, scoring just 1 run before being dismissed by Swapnil Singh.
Here’s what Rishabh Pant said during the toss:
“Fearless nature of him… making the most of it. In T20, this is what a captain requires.” Pant further confirmed the two changes, “I come in because I was banned in the last match and Gulbadin comes in for David Warner.”
The flamboyant Australian opener, who has a staggering IPL career tally of 6565 runs at an average of 40.92, has only managed one half-century this season.
Delhi Capitals’ Playing XI: Abishek Porel, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Gulbadin Naib, Rasikh Dar Salam, Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed.
