Sridharan Sriram has joined Chennai Super Kings as the assistant bowling coach.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have appointed former Indian cricketer Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach for the IPL 2025 season. The franchise made the announcement on Monday through their social media accounts.

Sridharan Sriram Joins CSK

Sriram is currently working as a commentator for Star Sports Tamil in the Champions Trophy. He will now be part of CSK’s coaching staff, which includes head coach Stephen Fleming, batting coach Michael Hussey, bowling consultant Eric Simons, and batting and fielding coach Rajiv Kumar.

Sridharan Sriram, who is from Chennai, played eight ODIs for India between 2000 and 2004. He was a left-handed batter and a left-arm spinner. In domestic cricket, he played for Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh. He scored 9539 runs in 133 first-class matches and took 85 wickets.

Coaching Experience

After retiring from playing, Sriram became a coach. He worked as Australia’s spin-bowling coach and later as their assistant coach from 2016 to 2022. During his time, Australia won their first T20 World Cup in 2021.

He also worked as a technical consultant for the Bangladesh team in the 2022 Asia Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup. In the IPL, Sriram was the spin-bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) until 2023. He then worked as the assistant coach for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024.

CSK’s IPL 2025 Campaign

Chennai Super Kings will begin their IPL 2025 season against Mumbai Indians on March 23 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The addition of Sriram to the coaching team will strengthen CSK’s spin department as they aim for their sixth IPL title.
