IPL 2025: “He Changed My Game” – KL Rahul Credits This Ex-KKR Coach for T20 Comeback

KL Rahul says working with Abhishek Nayar helped him enjoy T20 cricket again and play with more freedom.

KL Rahul is back in action in the IPL 2025. He missed Delhi Capitals’ first match but played a big role in their win against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. Rahul opened the batting and scored 77 runs from 51 balls. His knock helped Delhi win the match.

After the match, Rahul had a chat with Delhi’s mentor Kevin Pietersen. Pietersen praised Rahul’s batting in the last two games. He said Rahul’s strike rate was very high in both matches. He liked how Rahul changed his batting style to suit the T20 format.

Rahul told Pietersen that he has worked very hard on his white-ball cricket. He thanked Abhishek Nayar, the Indian team’s assistant coach, for helping him. Nayar also worked with KKR and helped them win the IPL title in 2024. Rahul said he spent many hours with Nayar in Mumbai. They spoke a lot about how Rahul can improve in T20 cricket.

Rahul also spoke about his mindset. He said that earlier he was too focused on taking the match deep. He didn’t try to hit big shots often. This made people say he lacked intent. It happened during his time with Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants too.

Now, Rahul has changed his thinking. He said he wants to enjoy hitting the ball again.

“I was not enjoying white-ball cricket. But now I am. I just want to see the ball and hit it hard,” he said. He added that he doesn’t think too much now. He just wants to put pressure on the bowlers and score quickly.

KL Rahul is trying to make a comeback in Team India’s T20 plans. With this new style of aggressive batting, he is looking strong. If he keeps playing like this, he could be back in the Indian team very soon.

For now, Delhi Capitals fans will be happy to see Rahul playing with freedom and joy. His powerful batting is giving them hope for a good IPL season.
