IPL 2025: Jadeja Slams Shubman Gill for his Remark on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Historic Century

14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits record IPL century for Rajasthan Royals

In one of the most talked-about matches of IPL 2025, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a brilliant innings to help Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by 8 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. RR chased down the target with 27 balls still remaining, thanks to Vaibhav’s outstanding knock.

The young batter scored a stunning century in just 35 balls, becoming the youngest player in IPL history to score a hundred. His performance has taken the cricket world by surprise and earned praise from all corners.

Even Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill couldn’t help but appreciate him.

“It was his day. His batting was exceptional, and he made full use of his day,” Gill said after the match.

But this comment didn’t sit well with former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja. He felt that Gill’s words didn’t fully respect the hard work behind such a special innings.

“One of the players said that Vaibhav was lucky. For a 14-year-old to have that much confidence in himself and push his limits to that extent, it requires a lot of hard work. Just by saying that it was his day, you are not giving him enough credit,” Jadeja said.

Jadeja praised Vaibhav not just for his batting but also for the calm and belief he showed under pressure. He said that performing like this at such a young age was proof of both talent and discipline.

So far in IPL 2025, Vaibhav has scored 151 runs in just three matches. He averages 50.33 and has a strike rate of 215.71. His century has not only won RR a match, but also sent a strong message about the quality of India’s young cricket talent.
