IPL 2025: KL Rahul Breaks Silence on Viral Bat-Stomp Celebration – Inspired by THIS Hit Movie!

KL Rahul revealed that his viral celebration after beating RCB was inspired by the film Kantara and was his way of claiming Chinnaswamy as his home ground.

KL Rahul is back, and he’s back with a bang. On Thursday, April 8, the Delhi Capitals batter played a stunning knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He sealed the match with a towering six and followed it with a celebration that immediately caught everyone’s attention.

After hitting the winning shot, Rahul drew a circle on the ground and firmly stomped his bat right at the centre of it — a powerful gesture that sparked curiosity among fans.

Later, in the post-match interview, Rahul explained the meaning behind his celebration. He said it was inspired by one of his favourite movies, Kantara. Sharing the deeper emotion behind the moment, Rahul said he wanted to send out a message — that Chinnaswamy is his home ground and no one knows it better than him.

“This is a special place for me. That celebration was from one of my favourite movies, Kantara. So, ya, just a tiny reminder that this ground, this turf, this home is where I have grown up and that this is mine,” said Rahul.

Rahul’s match-winning knock of 93 runs was his second impactful innings in three matches this season. He missed the opening game due to the birth of his child, but since his return, the batter has been in sensational form.

Talking about his aggressive approach this season, Rahul said:

“This is my ground, this is my home. I know this better than anybody else.”

“I knew what my shots are. Just wanted to get off to a good start, be aggressive initially and assess it from there. If I was trying to hit a big six, I knew what pockets to target,” he added.

This season, Rahul seems to have completely changed his approach. He has taken up a middle-order role, unlike previous seasons where he opened regularly. Known in the past for his slower strike rate and lack of big shots, Rahul now appears more focused on playing as per the team’s needs.

With two match-winning knocks already under his belt, and a celebration that’s become the talk of the town, Rahul has clearly sent a message — he’s here to take charge, and he’s doing it on his ground.
