IPL 2025: Mitchell Marsh Cleared to Play for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Without Bowling Duties
Mitchell Marsh will play IPL 2025 for LSG as a batter after recovering from a back injury

Australia’s T20 captain Mitchell Marsh has been given the green light to play in IPL 2025 for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), but only as a batter, according to ESPNcricinfo. Marsh missed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a back injury but has recovered enough to resume batting.
The all-rounder was ruled out of Australia’s ODI tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy due to persistent lower back pain. After consulting a specialist in February, he underwent rest before returning to the nets.
LSG acquired Marsh for ₹3.3 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah. He is set to join the LSG camp on March 18, where he will reunite with head coach Justin Langer.
Marsh last played competitive cricket on January 7 for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL). He was rested for the final two BBL matches and has not featured in white-ball cricket since Australia’s UK tour in September. Injuries have troubled him in the IPL as well—he played for Delhi Capitals in the last three seasons but had an injury-hit campaign. In IPL 2024, a hamstring issue ruled him out after just four games.
Meanwhile, Australia’s pace trio—Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins—are expected to be fit for IPL 2025.
