IPL 2025: Mohsin Khan Ruled Out, Shardul Thakur Named as His Replacement in LSG

Lucknow Super Giants have signed Shardul Thakur as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan ahead of IPL 2025.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have signed Shardul Thakur as a replacement for injured Mohsin Khan for the IPL 2025 season. The experienced Indian all-rounder, who went unsold in the auction, has joined the squad in Visakhapatnam, where LSG will begin their campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 24.

Mohsin Khan suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee on December 31 while playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Although he attended the LSG camp in Lucknow, he did not travel with the team to Visakhapatnam. The left-arm pacer, who had previously overcome a career-threatening shoulder injury, is now undergoing rehabilitation with the support staff.

LSG are struggling with injuries in their pace department, as Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Akash Deep are also unavailable. All three are recovering at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Avesh Khan is expected to return soon, provided he clears his fitness tests.

Thakur, who had a successful domestic season with Mumbai, had been training with LSG alongside Shivam Mavi. He was initially set to play county cricket for Essex but had kept himself available for an IPL opportunity. With multiple pacers injured, LSG will be hoping that Thakur strengthens their bowling attack this season.
