Rohit Sharma mentors LSG’s Abdul Samad, advising him to trust his own technique
Ahead of their important IPL 2025 match, Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma took some time to mentor young LSG batter Abdul Samad. In a video shared by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rohit was seen giving Samad some valuable advice about batting and technique.
Rohit explained that every batter must find their own style that suits different conditions. He said that copying someone else’s batting method could actually hurt a player’s growth.
“Tu mere jaisa nahin khel sakta, mein tere jaisa nahin khel sakta. Tera apna ek talent hai (You can’t play like me, I can’t play like you, you have your own talent),” Rohit told Samad. “If I go to copy you or you try to copy me, life will pass by in that time.”

Rohit also spoke about how pitch behavior changes based on weather conditions. He pointed out that things like humidity and wind can make a huge difference in how the ball behaves.
“Hit it either off this leg, or off that leg. You know why I’m saying this, it’s because every wicket has a pace. It’s different everyday, today the humidity is more so there will be moisture, if it’s less humid and more windy then the pitch is better to bat on. You won’t get that knowledge until the match starts,” Rohit said.
He reminded Samad that while talent is important, technique also plays a big part.
“Whatever ability you have, whatever talent, whatever technique, some things don’t work without technique, let’s accept that,” Rohit added.
It was a refreshing moment seeing an experienced player like Rohit passing on his wisdom to the next generation. Such advice can go a long way for young players who are trying to find their way in high-pressure tournaments like the IPL.
