Jos Buttler Ruled Out Of Sri Lanka Limited-Overs Series With Calf Injury; Replacement Announced

England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka with a calf injury.

English batsman Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the rest of England’s white-ball matches against Sri Lanka. He sustained a right calf injury in England’s first T20I victory at Sophia Gardens on Wednesday.

“He underwent an MRI scan in Cardiff on Thursday morning, which revealed a small tear,” England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Friday.

According to ECB, Buttler felt tightness and discomfort at the end of the match after smashing a stunning unbeaten knock of 68 in England’s eight-wicket victory in first T20I against Sri Lanka.

In the same light, England’s ace batter Dawid Malan has been added to their side in the 50-over squad. Talking about the T20I series so far, England are marching up by a 2-0 lead (series win) as they won the second game by five wickets owing to the DLS method.

“Yorkshire batsman Dawid Malan has been added to the ODI squad for the forthcoming Sri Lanka Royal London ODI Series,” ECB said.

The third T20 match takes place in Southampton on Saturday.
