The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that all English players participating in the IPL will return home before the play-offs to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to begin on June 2nd in the USA and West Indies.
This news comes as a blow to franchises that have benefited from the exceptional performances of English stars like Jos Buttler, who has smashed 319 runs in eight matches for Rajasthan Royals at a strike rate of 150.
Similarly, Phil Salt has been a revelation for Kolkata Knight Riders, amassing 392 runs in nine matches at a staggering strike rate of 180. Will Jacks also impressed, smashing the fastest century of the season while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Other English players like Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, and Jonny Bairstow, all representing Punjab Kings, have also been in top form. This news comes as England aims to defend their T20 World Cup title, having triumphed in Australia in 2022.
