Kane Williamson Ends Century Drought, Becomes First New Zealand Batter To Hit 25 Test Centuries
Kane Williamson notched up his 25th Test century in the opening Test against Pakistan.
New Zealand’s batting veteran Kane Williamson ended a 23-month century drought as he slammed his 25th hundred in the longest format of the game on Day 3 of the 1st Test against Pakistan in Karachi.
Williamson’s unbeaten 105 helped New Zealand to score 440/6 at the end of Day 3 and take a narrow two-run lead in their first innings. Tom Latham also registered a hundred in the first session while Devon Conway missed out on a century by just eight runs.
Unprecedented Record For Kane Williamson
With this, Williamson has now become the first-ever non-Asian player to score a Test century in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
With 25 international centuries, he also surpassed the likes of Greg Chappell, Mohammad Yusuf, and Viv Richards (24 hundreds each).
Williamson has also joined Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Virat Kohli with 25 or more tons on the Fab 4 list.
The former New Zealand Test captain has equaled Pakistan’s Inzamam-ul-Haq and Australia’s David Warner in terms of Test centuries (25 each). Also, he is the only New Zealand batter to have scored more than 20 Test centuries.
